UNATEK’s fairytale run in the national volleyball league came to an end over the weekend after back to back defeats against reigning champions APR and a very incisive Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) side.
The varsity side had raised many people’s eyebrows after a run of four successive wins but that was about it as they went down against KIE 3-1 before losing in straight sets against APR (3-0).
The defeats coupled with UNR’s straight set wins over PSB and KIE mean that UNATEK dropped to third with 14 points while UNR moved up to second spot with 16 points.
APR, who are chasing for a fourth successive league title retain top spot after back to back wins over Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) and UNATEK.
It was a forgettable weekend for KVC who also dropped points against Gisenyi College (2-3).
