KIGALI - The Minister of Local Government, James Musoni, has called on Christians to take part in government programs for the development of the nation.

He made the call during a ceremony organized by the Adventist Church to receive a Bible containing translations of 66 different languages.

The Bible arrived from the Philippines.
Musoni, who represented President Paul Kagame at the function, reminded the congregation to fully follow the Bible as a source of life.

"As good people of God, it’s your role to participate in government policies to fight poverty. To those who are well –off, it is your duty to help your neighbour,” he said, quoting the Bible on its teaching about duties of Christians.
Mathew Bediyako, the Executive Secretary of the church’s General Conference, called on Rwandans to renew their relationship with God.

"The Bible you have seen here cannot help you by mere seeing or owning.

You need to read it and understand for it to be helpful to you,” he said.

Pastor Hesiron Byiringiro, the Union leader in Rwanda, challenged the congregation to always re-examine themselves.

"Its time to check whether you are still in the line, if you lost your way, the mirror, which is the Bible will give you the guideline to follow,” the Pastor said.

This Bible was first brought to Rwanda in 1926, and from here it will be taken to Tanzania.
