Profiles of the Silverbacks
THE team sets off for Hong Kong on March 21. The players should be well conditioned by now given two months of intensive training.
Coko Marcel Cambara, Centre
Looks can be deceptive. Yeah, that’s true for Cambara, 24. At first sight, the National University of Rwanda student seems like he can’t hurt a fly. He is so humble and taciturn off the pitch.
No one, unless they read Times Sport online, would know about his killer tackles and lightening speed. One just has to pity those who will face him in Hong Kong. He makes you want to be on his side because facing him is not fun and has never been.
His 80kgs of packed lean muscle and instinctive hand-off usually see off any brave full-back. As a Centre, he is both a playmaker and shock absorber.
Yeah, he can take a tackle and score too.
Caps: 5 Favourite dish: Rice and beans
Favourite music: Igisope (I hope you know the genre coz it’s truly Rwandan)
Hobbies: Having fun with friends.
Vincent Kamali, Winger
WITH just three years’ experience in the sport, the 20-year-old is relatively new but don’t write him off.
Kamali has feet as quick as a hiccup and a run that is so deceptive you’d think he is not moving until you realise that he has touched down. His defensive abilities have also improved greatly.
He has a number of MVP trophies under his arm with many yet to join the shelf. Hong Kong should make him an even greater asset for the country as he is bound to learn so much more from the stars.
Caps: 4 Favourite dish: Posho with either chicken or fish.
(Posho seems to be a rugger favourite!)
Favourite music: Country
Hobbies: Watching rugby Super 14 and movies.
