The shortage of manpower (trained medics and equipments) at Centre Hospitalier University de Kigali (CHUK) as reported by your paper is a serious human threat.

Unfortunately, the sabotage is occurring in a national referral hospital where the entire Rwandan society relies for their health survival.

The referral hospital cannot at any cost afford to have a shortage of manpower, but the case here is that, anything that facilitates human life perseverance merits for lion’s share on the national budget.

Time has come for Ministry of Health to think twice while designing its annual budget. Since human lives is the major component that supports its existence among other government institutions.

Well-done the CHUK’s Director General Dr. Theobald Hategekimana to really expose the other side of the hospital performance in terms health service delivery.

Hategekimana should be crown a communication hero for having factually mentioned the figure of medical personnel the hospital survives on.

It is a challenge to hear that the whole national referral hospital has got 80 medical doctors only 27 with postgraduate skills, 348 nurses, 23 midwives, 86 paramedicals and 3 dentists.

And it also lacks equipment and materials like Computer Tomography Scanner (CTscan) for internal body health diagnosis and Celioscopy gadget for maternity services.

The issue of debt accrue shouldn’t be let as an ordinary one since it is the centre of either success or failure of the hospital operation in future.
