After continuously spending his money on purchasing betting tickets in a bid to become a winner with Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) Rwanda, Jean Damascene Rukiza has been rewarded by the company for his attempt.

Rukiza won a flat screen TV, while Emmanuel Munyaneza, the second runner up walked away with a shopping voucher worth Rwf100, 000 at Amon supermarket, Kigali.

At a function that was held at Sports View Hotel, PMU officials noted that although there are various people who bet and win instantly, there are those who simply never give up adding that Rukiza is one of them.

"We took it upon ourselves to reward the two people who have consistently bought a lot of tickets despite the fact that they rarely win. Henceforth we will do the same monthly to encourage others to join this exciting game,” the PMU Operations Inspector, Jean Pierre Kimenyi told The New Times.

"This is a game that brings people together and encourages unity. It is also a famous game in over countries and for us, it is a way of enabling Rwandans to increase their incomes.

Soon we will take this game to all parts of the country.”
PMU has been operating in the country since January, 2010 and officials add that by next month, residents of Rubavu will be playing the same game.
