AMAVUBI coach Sellas Tetteh was yesterday named coach of the year during the Glo-CAF Awards which were held at the Banquet Hall, State House, in Accra, Ghana.

Tetteh beat Diego Garzitto of T.P. Mazembe and Nigeria’s U-17 coach John Obuh to the award after becoming the first African to win the World Cup. Last year, the Ghanaian guided Ghana’U-20 team to the trophy after trouncing Brazil in the final.

Tetteh’s two-year contract means that he will be in charge of Rwanda’s entire qualification campaign for the 2012 Africa Nations Cup which will be jointly held in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

Tetteh, who has vast wealth of experience in national team management from his days with Ghana’s U-17, 20 and senior team is also in charge of the country’s under-20 side (Junior Wasps). He is expected to guide the Junior Wasps to the Fifa Youth World Cup and the U-23 side to the 2012 London Olympic Games.

The Ghanaian is expected in the country next week to proceed with Amavubi’s preparations for the 2011 Africa Nations Championships (CHAN).
