RAYON Sport Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya has assured under fire coach Baptista Kayiranga that his job is secure until his contract runs out in 2011.

Rayon fans are baying for the coach’s blood after losing ground in the title race following Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to Etincelles.

The blues have not won any silverware since 2004 and the team’s inconsistent display this season has enraged the fans who are calling on the club management to sack Kayiranga if he does not win any silverware this season.

But Gakwaya ruled out the possibility of sacking the 52-year-old even if he does not win any trophy this season.

He said, "We know the fans are not happy with the coach and most of them want him sacked but the management do not share that opinion and since they entrusted us to manage the club, then they should trust our judgment.”

"He still has 16 months left on his contract and we expect him to see it out.”

Kayiranga guided the blues to their last league title in 2004 before controversially losing his job the following year.

With six games to go, Rayon is in third place with 30 points but could lose ground on the title race with tough games coming up against the likes of arch-rivals and defending champions APR, Atraco, Police and Kiyovu.
