KIGALI - More controversy continues to haunt the founder of the political party, Partie Sociale (PS)-Imberakuri, Bernard Ntaganda.

Yesterday, party members rallied to disown their leader for what they termed as ‘improper conduct’.

A statement by a breakaway group of party members accuses Ntaganda, who is still battling accusations of inciting divisionism and harbouring the genocide ideology, of deliberately associating with individuals bent on causing state insecurity.

"We party members, are distancing ourselves from and condemn the continued misconduct of Bernard Ntaganda because he is intentionally associating with those suspected of causing insecurity to Rwandans,” a statement signed by Pastor Noel Hakizimfura, the leader of the faction, reads.

"The above is affirmed by some of his utterances, which clearly indicate that he has for long harboured plans aimed at causing state insecurity”.

The group referred to some of the statements made by Ntanganda — the same statements which the Senate relied on to summon him — as aimed at inciting violence.

It also accuses Ntaganda of working with Deo Mushayidi, who was arrested on Friday in Burundi for terrorism and threatening state security.

"Gutsinda amatora ni kashi, ni byanga ni kaci, umugambi murawuzi. Na maze gusinyana amasezerano na Mushayidi Deo afite ingabo Uganda na Tanzania,” the statement reads in Kinyarwanda,

Loosely be translated means "We will win the elections, if we lose, it will be war, you all know the plan. I have signed an agreement with Deo Mushayidi who already has forces in Uganda and Tanzania,” Ntaganda was quoted as saying.

The breakaway party members based on the above statement to distance themselves from Ntaganda and his activities.

"We find Ntaganda responsible for acts aimed at causing insecurity as affirmed by his statements,” they said.

"We therefore declare that whatever happens in this country that is threatening the security of all Rwandans be attributed to Ntaganda as a person and not PS-Imberakuri.

We have informed all concerned authorities about this”.
