We would like to thank the author for her pertinent observation regarding 24 hour border operation as a critical issue in doing business in Rwanda.
In this regard, we would like to inform the general public that the issue of 24 hour border operations is among the priorities for the Government of Rwanda.
In the recent concluded 8th Joint Permanent Commission between Rwanda and Uganda that took place from March 3rd to 4th, 2010 in Kampala-Uganda, it was agreed that the 24 hour border operations will commence in April, 2010 at Gatuna/Katuna, in June 2010 at Kagitumba/Mirama hills and in July 2010 at Cyanika border posts all along the Rwanda/Uganda common border.
In the same line, the arrangements of 24 hour border services are in the final process between Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo for Corniche, Poids lourd, Bugarama, Rusizi I and Rusizi II border posts.
The same arrangements are also underway between Rwanda and Burundi for Akanyaru Haut and Nemba-Gasenyi borders posts.
