They are shocking as they are confounding – these parliamentary investigation findings into cases of genocide ideology in schools. The parliamentary probe has found out that there is a very big number of students in schools who ascribe to the ideology of genocide, putting the percentage as high as 97 in some secondary schools, which just barely leaves room for any decency in such schools.

This is so serious that it is not unfair to say the institutions are breeding grounds for trouble on a gigantic proportion. Talk of déjà vu; one cannot help giving such schools a wide berth as it is not farfetched to think the potential bloodthirsty teenagers might fall upon you and savage you anytime.
It is confounding: this government has been so, so accommodative, so desirous of uniting this torn country and reconciling its bleeding people; so damn Christian!

It calls for a putting of heads together again – back to the drawing board as it were – to find solutions for this. Genocide student-survivors have to be relocated to different schools, as they should not be made to stand even one more single day of the torture that is meted out to them; and special counselors be found for these recalcitrant schools and areas that are teeming with potential genocidaires.

Now that the war is over and the RPF is in power and yet has not killed them or their parents, as this was one of the excuses their mentors used to draft them into killing legions, perhaps these students should tell the world what their grievance now is.
World experts in such affairs can advise Rwanda how best to reconcile this irreconcilable lot, as they also try to understand now that genocide ideology is not just an expression coined by interested parties merely shouting wolf for shouting’s sake, but that it is a still living and dangerous weapon against peace in this country.

The government should try all possible peaceful overtures to persuade those citizens within the country against nursing such dreadful, destructive tendencies.
