NYAGATARE - A 51-year-old man is reported to have been struck and killed by lightening on Thursday the evening in Mukama sector, Nyagatare district.

Police identified the dead as Emmanuel Ntibanyendera.
According to area residents, the deceased was struck during a heavy down pour that pounded the district on Thursday.

"He was from grazing his goat when lightening struck him near his house” one of the residents told The New Times.

This is the fifth person to be killed by lightening in the districts of Nyagatare and Gatsibo within the last three months.
