APR have ruled out any possibilities of engaging themselves in build-ups ahead of a tough Orange Champions league second round tie against TP Mazembe of DRC.

After seeing off Angola’s Recreativo do Libolo in the first round, the ten-time league champions face an even tougher test in TP Mazembe, the reigning African champions on March 20 in Kigali.

The club Secretary General Adolphe Kalisa said, "We won’t have time to engage our players into friendly matches due to a tight schedule.”

"We have now shifted our focus to the national league which resumes on Tuesday. We shall play two league games before playing TP Mazembe so we won’t have enough time to engage ourselves in friendlies,” Kalisa clarified.

APR play Electrogaz tomorrow before facing AS Kigali on Sunday.

APR reached the second round of the lucrative competition after last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Recreativo in the Angolan town of Calulo.

Ivorian born midfielder Selly Rogba Didier ensured APR’s qualification with a 78th minute winner to give the military side a 3-2 aggregate. The first leg in Kigali had ended in a 2-all draw.

The first leg between APR and TP Mazembe will be played on March 20 while the return leg is scheduled for the weekend of April 2-4.
