RUSIZI — The bishop of Cyangugu diocese, Geoffrey Rwobusisi has urged youth to be promoters of peace, unity and reconciliation in order to redeem the image of the country.

"We need to create a new Rwanda through you young gentlemen and ladies who are here. You should be preaching the word of God to all residents and to promote peace, unity and reconciliation in the region in order for our country to be a better nation in the future,” Rwobusisi said.
He was on Monday closing a ten-day youth workshop at peace guest house in Kamembe.

Organized by Cyangugu diocese, in collaboration with Cansus church of United States of America, the event drew youth between ages 15 and 20years from Rusizi, Nyamasheke, Nyamagabe and Huye districts.

Participants were also advised to love each other through teaching Christianity to their relatives and friends and to always eliminate racial and ethnic hatred.
The bishop also urged youth to work hard in order to improve their livelihoods.
He also warned the group against underrating their capacities but have self confidence in solving their own problems.

The youth were also warned against sex immorality in order to avoid contracting HIV/Aids and other sexually infectious diseases.

Etienne Sibomana, 18, one of the participants said the workshop had positively changed his attitude saying: "To me this training has helped me to completely eliminate divisionism in my heart and I will move around my village encouraging other youths and all residents to love and help each other.”
