It’s not only degrading but also undignified for the police to frequently involve its self in scuffles with the road side hawkers. Don’t the police officers ever get sick and tired of this comedy and find a lasting solution to this endless running up and down?

The police together with KCC (Kigali City Council) and the hawkers should sit down on a round table and each party be made to understand its operational areas and the limits. These upcoming business individuals should be given affordable and confined working areas so that they can operate with in the legal flame work of the transaction.

Business infrastructure is still expensive in the capital and the fact most of the hawkers are the poor uneducated youths; it is quite hard for them to organise accommodation of their ventures.

It is also government’s responsibility to help these youth graduate from being hawkers to owning stable ventures.
