DESPITE a dip in form since the start of the national league second round, surprise package Etincelles still hold title ambitions, their coach Rajab Bizimuremye has said.

Bizimuremye told Times Sport yesterday that his team, which was held to a 1-1 draw by Police on Saturday, should not be ruled out of the league title race.

"We have not had good results in the second round as was the case in the first, but we’re still motivated to challenge (for the title). At the moment, the results are not giving a fair reflection of our performances.

"At this moment everything is possible and our camp is still confident that we could end the season with silverware,” Bizumuremyi added.

Etincelles who topped the league standings for quite a long time since the league began last year has undergone mixed results as the second leg started in February, a feat which has seen them lose their grip on the standings to drop to third position with 29 points, two behind the new leaders Rayon Sport and one off second placed APR, who have a game less.

On Saturday, Jean de Dieu Harolimana put Etincelles ahead in the first but Abdul Karim Gashugi struck an equalizer for Police at Nyamirambo stadium.

Rayon Sport assumed leadership of the league table for the first time this season with a 1-0 victory over Mukura away in Huye.

Defender Aimable Rucogoza struck the lone goal of the match to earn maximum points for the Blues. Rayon have 31 points from 15 matches.
