Champions AS Kigali had to dig deep to take three points off Aspej during yesterday’s 2-1 national women soccer league match win in Rwamagana.
The Rwamagana based side, buoyed on by the home crowd, stunned the champions when striker Nadia Uwineza scored in the 30th minute and the first half ended with the hosts leading.
But AS Kigali responded in the second half when striker Mefya Hakizimana scored her eleventh goal of the season with a neatly taken free-kick in the 50th minute.
Shadia Uwamahirwe scored the winner in the 88th minute to restore the club’s two point lead over APR.
Meanwhile, APR were default points and three goals after Rayon Sport failed to show up for the second successive week.
In other games Rubavu thrashed Ruhango 5-1, while Bugesera and Muhoza defeated Rukoma and Rambura 2-0 respectively.
