Two arrested for taking bribe

MUHANGA - Police in Nyamabuye, Muhanga district are holding two people including one of their own officers, for allegedly soliciting a bribe from a businessman. Sgt. Donacien Muhoza and Emmanuel Utangamahoro, the Nyarusenge Sector Agriculture Officer were arrested yesterday after being caught red-handed taking a Rwf 35,000-bribe from a businessman.

MUHANGA - Police in Nyamabuye, Muhanga district are holding two people including one of their own officers, for allegedly soliciting a bribe from a businessman.

Sgt. Donacien Muhoza and Emmanuel Utangamahoro, the Nyarusenge Sector Agriculture Officer were arrested yesterday after being caught red-handed taking a Rwf 35,000-bribe from a businessman.

Police officials at the district could not give details, but the development was confirmed by Beatrice Uwamahoro, the Nyarusenge Executive Secretary.

"Rwf30,000 was taken by the officer and the agricultural official took Rwf5,000.The money had been photocopied before being handed to them.”

The motive of the bribe could not be immediately established.
