The World Bank Director for World Development Report, Nigel Roberts has described Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Programme as extraordinary.

He said this Wednesday while visiting ex-combatants living with disabilities at Nyarugunga in Kicukiro district.  

Roberts who was accompanied by Tony Gambino a World Bank consultant, hailed Rwanda’s contribution to peace building with post-conflict recovery programmes that he said should be emulated in other post-conflict countries.

"The fact is, Rwanda has an extraordinary Demobilisation and Reintegration programme on the globe, and we are here to learn lessons for world consumption,” said Roberts.
The World Bank is one of the major donors of the demobilisation programme.

He hailed the ex-combatants for the reconciliation manifested in their peaceful co-existence despite having served different sides.

"Our country is peaceful and liked by all Rwandans; that is why we succeeded in our reconciliation drive,” said Adolphe Sakindi, an ex-combatant during the discussion with the World Bank officials. 

Another ex-combatant, John Ndekezi, 52, attributed the success of the demobilisation and reintegration programme to the committed visionary leadership.
