The 30-year-old seemed to be cruising in the competition after recording two victories in the 4th and 7th stages until the flat terrain in the eighth stage proved to be a thorn in the wound, according to the National Cycling Federation President Aimable Bayingana.

RWANDA’s most capped rider Abraham Ruhumuriza suffered a set back during Tuesday’s Stage 8 of the tour of Cameroon after finishing a distant 12th with a time of 2 hours and 19 minutes.
The 30-year-old seemed to be cruising in the competition after recording two victories in the 4th and 7th stages until the flat terrain in the eighth stage proved to be a thorn in the wound, according to the National Cycling Federation President Aimable Bayingana.
"He (Ruhumuriza) and his teammates are much more used to the hilly terrain, which is why they performed well in the 3rd, 4th and 7th stages. The flat terrain was very tricky for them.” Bayingana said.
The eighth stage was won by Ido Sirkin from Israel, who used 2 hours and 18 minutes, while Slovakian Milan Barenyi continued his consistent performances after finishing second.
With two stages left, Ruhumuriza remains 7th on the overall classification.
