El-Amal  vs  Atraco

THE football governing body (Ferwafa)’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa yesterday confirmed that Atraco would travel to Atbara by air and not by road as had been widely reported in the media.

Atraco are due to leave for Sudan this afternoon aboard Ethiopian airways, and it was initially feared that they would travel by road from Khartoum to Atbara (400km) , where they play El-Amal in the return leg.

Kalisa told Times Sport that it is against Caf regulations for a team to travel that sort of distance by road.

"Those reports that Atraco will connect from Khartoum to Atbara by road are completely false. I can assure everybody that the team will travel by air.”

Atraco head coach Sam Timbe was one of those who breathed a sign of relief.

"I’m delighted because asking the team to travel such a long distance by bus would have been a huge psychological blow.”

Timbe also said that with an injury-free squad, he expects a good result on Sunday.

Atraco heads into the tie holding a two-goal advantage. Atraco’s skipper Lomami Jean and winger Jabir Mutarambirwa scored the goals.
