KARONGI - Local leaders at the sector level in Karongi district have been challenged to work more precisely on factors that influence underperformance in order to improve social and economic development.

The  call was made by Mukabalisa Simbi Dative, the district vice mayor in charge of social affairs during a consultative meeting held at the district headquarters last week.

"You should work closely with the local population in order to have your goals accomplished. This is the only way to reach the targets of your performance contracts,” she said.

Mukabalisa also encouraged local leaders to initiate projects that will enable the people raise themselves out of poverty.

The district was ranked among the worst performers during last year’s performance analysis of districts countrywide.
