IT was a walk in the park for reigning league champions APR as they walloped Christ Roi (CXR) 3-0 at Amahoro indoor stadium.
The army-side under their new Kenyan coach was on fire from the opening set (25-9). CXR put in a fight in the second set (25-18) but APR showed why they have won an unprecedented hat-trick of league titles by wrapping up play with a 25-12 third set victory.
However, KVC were made to sweat for their first league points by a hard-fighting St. Joseph Kabgayi side. KVC, who are getting used to life without their star spiker Eric Nsabimana, who recently crossed over to his former club National University of Rwanda (UNR) were pushed into a decisive set although they finally came through.
UNR and PSB also had good starts after victories over Rubavu’s CO Gisenyi and Kigali Institute of Education (KIE).
In the ladies fray, APR, UNR, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) and Ruhango registered straight set victories over Rwaza, ESI of Rwamagana, St. Aloys and St. Joseph respectively.
