FOUR time tour of Rwanda winner Abraham Ruhumuriza again displayed his class after winning the 7th stage of the tour of Cameroon yesterday.
The 30-year-old used 2 hours and 50 minutes in the 96km stage, beating his closest rival Milan Barenyi from Slovakia by 11 seconds.
It was Ruhumuriza’s second stage win of the tournament, having won the fourth stage, while fellow teammates Gasore Hategeka and Nicodem Habiyambere finished first and second in the 3rd and 5th stages respectively.
The president of the national cycling federation (Ferwacy) Aimable Bayingana, who is in Cameroon with the team, told Times Sport that the team’s brilliant performance in testament of the sport’s improved standards in the country.
"People in Cameroon are talking about how good our riders are and it is all down to the improved standards in place.”
Today, the event heads into its eighth stage.
