Suspect confesses to grenade attacks

KIGALI - A man suspected to have been part of the group that carried out the simultaneous grenade attacks in three places in Kigali City, has confessed to the crime. According to police spokesperson, Eric Kayiranga, the suspect was arrested Saturday evening in Rugogwe market in Ruhashya Sector, Huye District.

KIGALI - A man suspected to have been part of the group that carried out the simultaneous grenade attacks in three places in Kigali City, has confessed to the crime.

According to police spokesperson, Eric Kayiranga, the suspect was arrested Saturday evening in Rugogwe market in Ruhashya Sector, Huye District.

"We arrested him in the marketplace and investigations are still going on to uncover all those behind the attacks,” Kayiranga said.

"He confessed to us that he was behind the attacks,” said Kayiranga without revealing whether Gatete had mentioned any other suspects.

He is the third person to be arrested since Friday when three grenades exploded in the city.

Meanwhile, a second victim died in hospital Saturday night.
The deceased is among the five people who were admitted at the Central Hospital of Kigali (CHK) in critical condition.
