In reference to the letter published in The New Times dated February 16, 2010, The Management of King Faisal Hospital is responding regarding the burning or disposing of bed covers.  

It’s unfortunate that the person who claims to have seen people cutting bed covers did not have time to see their state and to ask why they were being cut.

Procedurally, King Faisal Hospital, Kigali in its policy and procedure number 79, has an asset disposal valuation committee that decides the fate of such items depending on their status whether to donate if still in a fair condition, auction if in a fair condition or discard if spoilt to the extent that they serve no further purpose to anyone.

It’s in this regard therefore, that the same committee decided to have these bed covers burnt since they were of no use anymore and in no condition to be given to any other human being.

As a hospital therefore, we find it wrong to donate items that are very old and torn beyond repair.
