APR returned back to the summit of the national soccer league table standings after a deserved 2-0 victory over rivals SC Kiyovu yesterday at Amahoro stadium.

Albert Ngabo scored the opening goal on 8th minute from Patrick Mafisango’s corner kick and Didier Rorbsour sealed the winner on 89th minute unleashing strong shot from edge of the 18-yard box which left Kiyovu’s Ugandan veteran goalie Ibrahim Kongo helpless.

The military side took the proceedings in the first half with Victor Nyirenda, Bokota Labama and Abbas Rassou all misfiring but when the chance arrived for Ngabo, he showed the striker how it’s done when he connected with a mis-clearance by Kongo.

Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s Kiyovu forced the military side inside their own half after recess but without much success as their strikers appeared to have left their scoring boots at home.

Former APR striker Eric Serugaba was the main culprit, but it was not him alone as Eldebald Nshuti and Titi Ntamuhanga failed to beat APR keeper Jean Luc Ndayishimiye from close range.
