RWANDA’S Dieudonne Habiyambere won the second leg of the ITF/CAT prize money circuit after beating Kenya’s Francis Rogoi 7-6 7-6 in the final of the men’s singles played yesterday at Umubano Laico Hotel to pocket $800.
Habiyambere also went on to share $300 in the doubles event despite losing to Kenyan pair of Gilbert Kibet and Rogoi. Habiyambere paired with Olivier Nkunda and they started brilliantly winning the first set 6-4 before losing the second set 6-4. At this stage, the game went into tie break as the Rwandan pair lost 8-10.
In girls’ category, Kenyan Caroline Odour won the prize money worth $650 after seeing off Burundia’s Gioe Ketty 6-4 6-4.
Odour was also influential in the doubles as she paired with Ketty to defeat Tanzania’s Rehema Athumani, who paired with Uganda’s Rosette Musoke.
