The Tuff Gang is a music group of five local artists; Bull Dogg, P-fla, Green P, Jay Polly and Fireman. These rappers largely link themselves with Old School Hip- hop music.
They gained fame in the local music industry towards the end of 2008, preparing their ground for a successful 2009.
One of them, Bull Dogg is often held as king of this realm though the entire faction regard themselves equivalent in talent.
He shone after releasing his super single, ‘Umunsi Wimperuka’ which paved for him the way to his current popularity. He has a nice flow and his rap is often held by many fans as unbeatable.
P-fla is another potentially famous person and a tough member of the Tuff Gang. He came to the spotlight after his return from Europe with the release of his early songs like ‘Ntuzanyinishe’ and ‘Ubutumwa’.
The 25 year old experienced rapper, however, lowered muscle soon after, and it was not until late 2008 when he joined the Tuff Gang that he regained his ground.
Green Pason is arguably one of the best song writers Rwanda is blessed with and a treasured asset of the gang. His composed flow plus the pie presented in his songs make him exceptional in the group.
He became famous with his super single ‘Kwicuma’ alongside Jay Polly, also a member.
Jay Polly is certainly the fans’ most popular among the Tuff Gang at present because of his matchless hip- hop-so profound. His ‘Ndacyariho’ single will arguably make it to the long hip-hop songs of all time .
Fireman is also on a better stand that he has ever been in the local music industry. His latest singles including the collabo ‘Inzira Yangye’ proves him to be a promise artist.
These ranges in skills gives the tuff gang a diversity of abilities which makes their music face appear as fine as it is held by many fans.
In mid 2009, the media developed a row with the Tuff Gang accusing them of drugs and violent behaviour. This hassle almost brought the group’s career to a close down as their music was not aired in that time.
It was not until late 2009 when they made the right move of reconciling with the journalists that they came back to life music-wise.
The gang has so far released more than fifteen songs collectively all of which play on the radio.
They hosted their first concert in early February of 2010 at the Amahoro Stadium plus securing themselves a prestigious deal with telecommunications company TIGO.
The Tuff Gang is at the moment working on videos for most of their early songs in a bid to promote their music. They also dream of putting up their own recording studio in the near future, according to an insider.
