A five-man Rwanda Defence Forces team that has been undergoing training since January 28 will soon be deployed in Guinea Bissau under the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UN –DSS) to offer protection to the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative in the country, Ambassador Joseph Mutaboba from Rwanda.
A five-man Rwanda Defence Forces team that has been undergoing training since January 28 will soon be deployed in Guinea Bissau under the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UN –DSS) to offer protection to the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative in the country, Ambassador Joseph Mutaboba from Rwanda.
The development was revealed by the defence and RDF spokesman, Maj. Jill Rutaremara, in an interview with The New Times yesterday.
Rutaremara, said that a team of 11was trained by United Nations Department of Safety and Security after fulfilling the UN assessment criteria.
"The five were selected from six candidates and will soon be deployed as close protection personnel for Ambassador Mutaboba,”
He said that their training which started on Jan 28 and successfully concluded on Thursday was conducted by a UN Team.
"This is usually done by the UN and they can even deploy them elsewhere. They are supposed to serve for twelve months on a rotational basis and this means that they will be replaced by another team after their tour of duty.”
