GASORE Hategeka’s display in the third stage of the tour of Cameroon is testament that Rwandan cycling is making steady progress.
The little-known youthful rider, who is only making his debut at an international event, won Wednesday’s stage after using 2 hours and 7 minutes. His closest challenger Rasmane Quedraogo of Burkina Faso was a minute and 55 seconds off the pace.
Four-time Tour of Rwanda champion Abraham Ruhumuriza and Nicodem Habiyambere came in 4th and 5th positions after using 2 hours and 10 minutes.
In the general classification, Milan Barenyi from Slovakia still enjoys pole position while Rasmane Quedraogo from Bukina Faso is second.
Nine countries are in contention and they include; France, Belgium, Israel, Slovakia, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Rwanda, Congo and Gabon.
Other Team Rwanda riders include Nathan Byukusenge, Emanuel Uwamungu and Uwase Nyandwi.
