GHANA’S Under-20 World Cup winning coach Sellas Tetteh has agreed to handle Rwanda’s senior men’s football team- ‘the Amavubi Stars’.

The decision came after yesterday’s closed door meeting between Tetteh, his manager, Minister of Sports and Culture Joseph Habineza and Ferwafa head Brig. Gen. Jean Bosco Kazura.

According to Habineza, Tetteh has agreed to coach the team and will officially start work in March.

"He has signed a two-year deal and will start work in March,” the minister said.

One of the Ghanaian’s immediate tasks is to guide Rwanda to the 2012 Nations Cup which will be co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

Tetteh did not comment on the deal.
Tetteh replaces caretaker coach Eric Nshimiyimana, who did a tremendous job during last year’s Cecafa after helping the team reach the final.

Rwanda has been without a coach since November, 2009 when Branko Tucak was sacked following Rwanda’s failure to qualify for the 2010 Africa Nations Cup in Angola.

Tetteh rose to prominence as Ratomir Dujkovic’s assistant during Ghana’s World Cup campaign in 2006.

Last year in Kigali, he masterminded Ghana’s success at the African Youth Championship and followed it up with the Fifa U-20 World Cup victory. Ghana lifted the title after beating Brazil on penalty shoot-outs.
