It is encouraging to find out that there is an active mechanism in place to reduce the number of accidents in our country. Following the increasing occurrence of road accidents in the country, the National Police and with the Parliament passing a law that will affect drivers who are either reckless or drunk while behind the wheel. 

A system to detect the content of alcohol level in a person’s body was introduced during the last month; however, this had not been enforced until early this week when a law was passed with regard to the issue.

The law states that "any person found drunk while driving will have to spend 7 days to 6 months in prison”.

Having been one of those who have been disgusted by the social phenomenon of drunk and reckless driving, I think we may have finally forced these drivers to act responsibly and spare the lives of their fellow citizens.

This is good news to the rest of us road users. What we need is that everyone acts responsibly.

Let us emulate the example of our President and our leaders; love our country and the people surrounding us by being good road users. We have good transport networks, let us use them responsibly.
