SUMMONED: Victoire Ingabire

Victoire Ingabire, the embattled leader of the yet-to-be registered political party, FDU-Inkingi, was yesterday again summoned and interviewed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Police Headquarters in Kacyiru.

Ingabire, whose remarks and actions sparked off controversy, is suspected to be answering questions regarding her remarks on genocide which were many considered to be espousing a ‘double-genocide’ theory, highly provocative and were aimed at rekindling memories of the 1994 Gencoide against the Tutsi.

In an interview with The New Times, Police Spokesperson Supt. Eric Kayiranga confirmed the development but could not reveal the exact reasons behind Ingabire’s summoning.

"She came to assist in investigations that have been going on. We can’t reveal what is contained in the dossier today as investigations are still ongoing,” Kayiranga said.

Ingabire was again accompanied to the police headquarters by her lawyer, Protais Mutembe.
