Yesterday’s result
Atraco 2-0 El-Amal
ATRACO’s head coach Sam Timbe was satisfied with his team’s performance after defeating Sudanese club El-Amal 2-0 in yesterday’s Orange Confederation Cup first leg tie at Nyamirambo’s Regional stadium.
There was little to talk about in the first half as both sides were reluctant to attack.
However, after the break, Timbe made some changes, bringing on Donatien Tuyizere a.k.a Jojori and Andre Lomami for Jean D’Amour Uwimana and Yahya Serubungo.
The move seemed to energize the taxi-side club and Atraco’s instant pressure paid off on the 54th minute when the team was awarded a penalty following a foul on Dadi Birori (striker) by El-Amal defender Salih Alamela Toto.
Jean Lomami made no mistake from the spot to put Atraco ahead.
He then missed two open chances on the 63rd and 70th minute, before winger Djabir Mutarambirwa saved his blushes with a 20-yard strike that left the stadium in delight.
One minute from stoppage time, El Amal players ruffed up Tanzanian Linesman Odan Mbaga after he disallowed Amin Salusi’s goal for unclear reasons.
The police had to intervene as the players threatened to beat up the Tanzanian official.
Although Timbe was satisfied by his team’s win, he insists that Atraco will not sit back and defend in the return leg.
"We are not thinking of defending in the second leg. We shall have the same mentality and hopefully, come through with a win at their home (Sudan),” the Ugandan tactician added.
