Rusizi upgrades roads

RUSIZI - The Rusizi district Mayor, Fabien Sindayiheba has said the district has started to upgrade feeder roads that connect different sectors of the district in order to boost commercial activities. “Good infrastructure is among the factors that bring development in any region, so we want to rehabilitate all the urban and rural roads that are in a poor state in the whole district in order to ease transport in our district,” Sindayiheba told The New Times in an interview.

RUSIZI - The Rusizi district Mayor, Fabien Sindayiheba has said the district has started to upgrade feeder roads that connect different sectors of the district in order to boost commercial activities.

"Good infrastructure is among the factors that bring development in any region, so we want to rehabilitate all the urban and rural roads that are in a poor state in the whole district in order to ease transport in our district,” Sindayiheba told The New Times in an interview.

According to Sindayiheba, work has started on the Kadasomwa-Rusizi road, Kadashya road and Gihundwe road.
Other roads to be upgraded include a 30 km road stretch linking the sectors of Nyakabuye, Gitambi and Bweyeye.

The Mayor added the work is expected to be finished by May, adding that the construction of a tarmac road from Nyungwe Nation Park would begin in early June.
