KIGALI - With an aim of expanding its support for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Friday completed a five day training session that certified 24 trainers on business edge.

Under IFC’s Rwanda Entrepreneurship Development Programme (REDP), this initiative will sharpen the management skills that business owners in the country need to succeed.

Ignace Bacyaha the REDP Manager noted that IFC has partnered with Rwanda’s Private sector Federation to support SMEs adding that more partnerships will be forged with key stakeholders to promote this cause.

"Business Edge training will continue to be delivered alongside the SME toolkit, an IFC training product that is already available in Rwanda,” Bacyaha said.

Sylvie Pawele who was recently certified by IFC to deliver the same training to entrepreneurs in the country also said, "I have been conducting training for SMEs for many years but business edge is superior to many training products in terms of content and delivery methods hence it is appropriate for Rwanda’s business development.”

During the accreditation of the 24 trainers of trainers, the First Secretary at the Netherlands Embassy, Jan Bade also added that it is impressive that IFC is streamlining the business management industry with the best management solutions for SMEs adding that this had resulted into business development for these enterprises.

IFC is the only international financial institution focused exclusively on the private sector as a significant engine of sustainable development in emerging markets.
