The question is would you forgive him for standing you up on Valentines Day? Maybe he forgot about it or he got so involved in something that he could not get time to make it up to you. Flavia Atuhaire recalls the way things did not go so well for her last Valentine’s Day. “I kept waiting for him but he did not turn up after giving me so many excuses- first that he was caught up in a jam and later that he had gotten into a problem,” she fumes.
The question is would you forgive him for standing you up on Valentines Day? Maybe he forgot about it or he got so involved in something that he could not get time to make it up to you.
Flavia Atuhaire recalls the way things did not go so well for her last Valentine’s Day. "I kept waiting for him but he did not turn up after giving me so many excuses- first that he was caught up in a jam and later that he had gotten into a problem,” she fumes.
But even up to that level he kept telling her that he was coming to pick her up until she lost all hope.
"All clad in my red dress and the rose flowers I had bought him, ended up sleeping on the couch thinking he would come only to wake up in the morning alone and he was no where to be seen.”
When he returned in the morning, Atuhaire says since she had nothing to do about the whole issue she simply let go of the case but only to listen to his side of the story.
She says she wanted to understand because he had apologized. So she thought maybe he was sorry after all for hurting her feelings and maybe he still loved and adored her.
Only if it was possible to label every day you are in love ‘Valentines Day’ then I suppose you ought to love one another every day and so you should not hold back forgiveness if he did not turn up for this day.
If he genuinely forgot and he says he is sorry for hurting your feelings maybe he is and still cares for you.
I believe nothing good comes out of withholding forgiveness to some one you love so much; just because he did not do some thing for you on that special day, does not mean you should hold out to him.
One potential outcome of withholding forgiveness is that you will end up hurting that poor man’s feeling and end up showing him that you only care so much about being given that special treatment on the 14th of February than looking forward to keeping and nurturing your relationship.
After he has apologized consistently and you do not give him an ear, you will only make him feel like he is not even sorry for not turning up anyway and at the end of the day you will all be so miserable about something you would have solved amicably.
You should know that if you forgive him you will be an understanding woman and a kind companion and this will render you much more respect, trust and heart felt sincerity. He will know that the person he is living with truly cares for him and so he will change.
Remember apologies that fall on deaf ears tend to cease after sometime if you’re not going to find it in your giant red Valentine’s Day loving heart to forgive him, he will quit asking for forgiveness.
You either forgive him and enjoy a few memorable moments together or you hold out against him and sacrifice your happiness for your pride.
Happy Valentine’s Day.
