Eugene Ngoga is a Gynaecologist Obstetrician at King Faisal Hospital. Although he operates on different work schedules each day, he is always busy.
Below he shares how he spends his typical working day:
I wake up at 5o’clock in the morning. I bath and at 6:45, I drop my children to school.
By 7:15, I am already at work. I check my mail and respond given the urgency. Depending on the program, I might engage in reading either official letters or certain books on gynaecology.
From 8 to 9a.m, I attend regular meetings to discuss work related issues with management.
Depending on the day’s program, I may either go to the theatre or the clinic. If it’s in the theatre, I operate until 2p.m while in the clinic its 1p.m; supervise the patients before I go for a 30 minute break.
I sometimes work in the private clinic from 5 to 6p.m and sign off at 8p.m. However, this may not mean the end of the day.
I am always ready to receive a call any time to get back to work in case of any emergency case.
When I arrive home, I relax with my family while listening to the evening news from different radio stations.
I have supper at 9:30 but continue with other stuff until 11 when I go to bed.
