KAYONZA – Ten people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a businessman in Kayonza, police said.

Alex Nyirimanzi, 56, a resident of Rwinkwavu sector in Kayonza district was murdered on Monday morning, according to Hubert Nabyera, the sector Executive Secretary.

Nabyera said that the body of the deceased was discovered by his wife, in their nearby cassava plantation. 

The murderers reportedly planted some bottles of illicit alcohol in the deceased’s pockets to disguise that he could have been killed by excess drinking.

However, Nabyera added, "The post mortem proved that the deceased died of severe injuries and internal bleeding.”
The sector leader blamed alcoholism and drug abuse in the village for the increased crime rate in the village.

"A Police unit has been set up at Nyankora village, to curb the escalating crimes,” he said.
