Support women entrepreneurship

The chairman Private Sector Federation (PSF) Vincent Bayigamba has urged the business community to support women entrepreneurs.

"We must also help them establish networks and markets for their products because they can be a centre for poverty reduction the region,” Bayigamba said. We must help them in their endeavors in order to include them in nation building.

He was speaking during an interview at Prime Holdings on Thursday where the PSF was hosting the first regional roundtable of women entrepreneurs where they where exchanging views and sharing experiences from on to do business.

"For instance women here have set up women cooperative banks like Bank Populaire-Duterimbere and COOPEDU micro finance and other reforms of revolving credit. These ideas can be borrowed by the visitors,” he said.  

Ms Janet Nkubana the managing director of Gahaya Links described women as an economic force that shouldn’t be excluded because they have the purchasing power, they are good managers and entrepreneurs.

However Minister Vincent Karega called upon women to employ men in their businesses so as to have diversified views in different areas.

The first regional roundtable of women entrepreneurs attracted women entrepreneurs from all East African countries and the Democratic republic of Congo from the Great lakes region.
