The national broadcaster, Rwanda Television will start screening the English-language documentaries within six months.
"I would like to say, that this grant is one of the very many things that Japan has done with Rwanda. We have co-operated in agriculture and infrastructure and more is yet to come,” Amb.Eugene Munyakayanza, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation said during the signing ceremony.
The Charge d’Affaire at the Japnese embassy said that this grant will come into effect in a space of six months after the government of Japan has completed the paperwork.
The acting head of Orinfor, Willy Rukundo, said that the grant was a milestone in helping Rwanda Television transform from analog to digital broadcasting.
"This grant is a milestone and we shall use it to build a stronger relationship between the Japanese and Rwandan cultures,” he said
