DEFENDING champions Atraco drew minnows second division side Pepiniere in the 1/8 round of the MTN Peace Cup finals whose draws were held on Tuesday at Ferwafa headquarters, Remera.

The taxi-men side qualified from the preliminary round after a 2-1 goal aggregate against Aspor.

If Atraco wins the two-legged matches, they will face the winner between Amagaju and Etincelles in the quarter-finals of the lucrative MTN Peace Cup.

Rivals APR who stung minnows Zebres 12-0 on goal aggregates have been drawn against another second division side ISAE.

The winner of the contest will face either Police or AS Kigali in the quarter-finals.

Elsewhere, Rayon Sport who got a bye into the first round will face Marines, Kiyovu face Musanze, Electrogaz will play against Muhanga while Amagaju will host Etincelles in the first leg.

Dates for the matches are yet to be confirmed because of APR and Atraco’s engagements in the African Champions league and Confederation Cup respectively.

Like last year, MTN Rwanda has sponsored the event to a tune of Rwf 50m.

In 2009, the package saw clubs competing for a total prize money of Rwf23m with the winner (Atraco) pocketing Rwf10m, Rwf5m more than what APR bagged in 2008 when they won the competition.
