Gasigwa out of ITF/CAT Burundi leg

RWANDA’s top tennis player Jean Claude Gasigwa has pulled out of the first leg of this year’s ITF/CAT East African Money circuit which starts this morning in Burundi’s capital, Bujumbura. The 28-year-old bruised his foot during training on Saturday but told Times Sport that he is recuperating well and could play in the Kigali leg next week.

PULLED OUT OF BURUNDI LEG: Gasigwa is not playing in the ITF-CAT East Africa money circuit first leg in Bujumbura.

RWANDA’s top tennis player Jean Claude Gasigwa has pulled out of the first leg of this year’s ITF/CAT East African Money circuit which starts this morning in Burundi’s capital, Bujumbura.

The 28-year-old bruised his foot during training on Saturday but told Times Sport that he is recuperating well and could play in the Kigali leg next week.

"I hurt my foot during training but it is not a serious injury and I expect to take part in the Kigali leg next week,” Gasigwa said.

Nine local players traveled for the Burundi leg where prize money amounting to US$850 is up for grabs.

The list includes the experienced Olivier Nkunda, Dieudonné Habiyambere, Mele Bizimana, Mathew Uwizeyimana, Cekina Niyonshuti, Innocent Rukundo, Emmanuel Rukundo, Justin Munyaneza and Megan Ingabire, who is competing in the ladies’ fray.
