MUHANGA – Police in Nyamabuye in Muhanga district are holding a  24- year old man alleged to have murdered a 7-year old child during the past festive season.

Gapiteni Hatangishaka aka ‘Bosco’ was arrested on Tuesday from his hideout in Kabaya sector, Ngororero district.

The suspect is alleged to have killed Minani Uwiragiye on December 22 last year in Gahogo cell, Nyamabuye sector.
The deceased’s body was found in the same neigbourhood and residents alleged that Hatangishaka was the last person to be seen with the victim.

Upon arrest however, Hatangishaka denied being responsible for the murder, although he says that he was aware of a plot that was hatched to kill the child by one of the child’s family neighbours.

"I was not involved in the said murder but I am sorry that I didn’t tell the victim’s family about the plan to kill the child,” he said.

The Police say that suspect will be charged with murder.
