Fire victim recovering - official

The condition of a Police Constable (PC) who was last week admitted at Kigali Central Hospital (CHK) in critical condition after being set on fire, is improving following a successful operation, a top police official has said. The Director of Medical Services in Rwanda National Police (RNP), Assistant Commissioner of Police Wilson Rubanzana, said yesterday in a telephone interview that the PC’s condition is now better but he is still under intensive care.

The condition of a Police Constable (PC) who was last week admitted at Kigali Central Hospital (CHK) in critical condition after being set on fire, is improving following a successful operation, a top police official has said.

The Director of Medical Services in Rwanda National Police (RNP), Assistant Commissioner of Police Wilson Rubanzana, said yesterday in a telephone interview that the PC’s condition is now better but he is still under intensive care.

"He sustained serious injuries of up to 40 percent. But after undergoing a successful operation, his health is now improving,” Rubanzana said.

PC Eric Mulisa was last week attacked by unidentified thugs in his home area of Rwampara cell in Kicukiro district who poured petrol on him before setting him ablaze.

He was saved by his neighbours who came to his rescue after he raised an alarm.

Meanwhile police is yet to arrest anyone in connection with the attempted murder.

Police spokesperson, Eric Kayiranga said yesterday that thorough investigations are still going on.
