BPR’s Mobile Banking on course

Banque Populaire du Rwanda (BPR) says that it will soon unveil the Mobile Banking service. Ben Kalkman, the bank’s CEO told Business Times yesterday that they are carrying out a feasibility study with experts from Netherlands’ RABOBANK.  RABOBANK holds 35 percent of equity in BPR while the former cooperative members own 65 percent.

Banque Populaire du Rwanda (BPR) says that it will soon unveil the Mobile Banking service. 

Ben Kalkman, the bank’s CEO told Business Times yesterday that they are carrying out a feasibility study with experts from Netherlands’ RABOBANK.  RABOBANK holds 35 percent of equity in BPR while the former cooperative members own 65 percent.

"We are taking a step a time, the work is on course. We will be launching the service very soon,” Kalkman said. 

He explained that the bank is running the venture under its direct supervision. It is yet to decide on which operator they will partner. 

"If the service is up and running we are targeting all our country wide customers,” he added.

BPR is Rwanda’s largest bank by branch network and market share with Rwf5.8 billion worth of capital and 617,332 shareholders.
