MUSANZE – The Bishop of Shyira Diocese, John Rucyahana, has implored political leaders to inculcate a bigger vision for the country for the purposes of leading the country towards stability and sustainable development.
He was speaking at the close of a three-day retreat for local government leaders held in Musanze district.
Before delivering the closing prayer, Rucyahana, challenged the local government leaders to have a clear analysis of where they are, noting that they cannot do what they can’t comprehend.
"We pray for you, to have the knowledge which will save people, transform them, such that when time comes for you to leave the stage, your area will be far different from how you found it,’’ he prayed.
Rucyahana appealed to the Minister of Local Government, James Musoni, who chaired the three day retreat, to consider organizing such meetings for religious leaders, saying that the clergy needed assistance too.
"If religious leaders were perfect, there should not have been genocide in Rwanda because 80% of the population were Christians, but the religious leaders did not help,’’ he said.
