THE national athletics federation (RAF) yesterday named a strong nine-man team that will compete at the 38th World Cross Country Championship slated for next month in Bydgoszcz-Poland. Two-time Olympian Epiphanie Nyirabarame, Claudette Mukasakindi and Pelagie Musengimana will run in the ladies’ 8km category while their male counterparts; Felix Ntirenganya, Evariste Nzabonimpa, Jean Baptiste Simukeka, Sylvain Rukundo, Eric Sebahire and Gervais Hakizimana will compete in the 12km category.

The team was selected after Saturday’s national cross country championship which was held in Nyarutarama.
National team coach Eric Karasira confirmed that Rwanda’s top athlete Dieudonné Disi will not take part in the event because he now runs in the marathon category.
"He no longer runs in the cross country category.”
