Editor, Allow me express my dissatisfaction with Mutelle de Sante medical insurance. Ideally this is a program aimed at saving the lives of Rwandans, who previously could not easily access medical care. However, to the contrary, people are losing their lives daily even in circumstances where their demise could be avoided. There are so many cases where people have lost their lives either due to negligence or the fact that the Mutuelle operations aren’t streamlined properly.

Allow me express my dissatisfaction with Mutelle de Sante medical insurance. Ideally this is a program aimed at saving the lives of Rwandans, who previously could not easily access medical care. However, to the contrary, people are losing their lives daily even in circumstances where their demise could be avoided.
There are so many cases where people have lost their lives either due to negligence or the fact that the Mutuelle operations aren’t streamlined properly.
A case in point. On the 3rd of February this year, at Nyagatare hospital, a lady called Nyirabashyitsi had her son admitted and she also fell sick.
When she approached medical officials at the hospital to get treatment she was not attended to on the grounds that she has to first go to where she got her Mutuelle de Sante card and they would then give her a transfer to the hospital.
As the lady went looking for the transfer forms, she sucummed to her illness and died before getting the transfer.
My request to the Ministry of Health to act quickly, streamline these procedures hence stopping a future death in such manner.
