According to the EAC Deputy Secretary General in charge of Productive and Social Sectors, Jean Claude Nsengiyumva, the summit will take place in Arusha, Tanzania towards the end of next month.
The meeting comes at a time when the region is faced with serious food shortage which creates the need for both the public and private actors to jointly alleviate the situation.
An EAC press statement says that a preparatory meeting attended by key stakeholders from across the region and experts on food security and climate change matters, convened last week in Arusha to chart the way forward.
The summit is expected to focus on the status of food security and climate change in the region.
